We don’t want your data. Seriously.
CancelSmartly exists to help you cancel subscriptions, not to become another tech company hoarding personal information. Here’s exactly what we collect (spoiler: not much) and what we do with it.
Information We Collect
Automatically Collected:
- Basic analytics — Which pages people visit, how long they stay, what they search for. This helps us see which guides need updating. We use privacy-focused tools that don’t track you across the internet.
- Device info — General stuff like browser type, operating system, screen size. Helps us make sure our site works on your phone.
- IP address — Temporarily logged for security and spam prevention, then deleted.
Information You Choose to Give Us:
- Email address — Only if you contact us through our form or sign up for updates (which we rarely send).
- Message content — Whatever you write when you reach out.
What We DON’T Collect
- Names, addresses, phone numbers
- Payment information (we don’t sell anything)
- Login credentials for any service
- Detailed browsing history outside our site
- Location data beyond general region (country/state level)
How We Use Information
Honestly? Mostly to keep the lights on and improve the site.
- Fix broken guides people complain about
- See which cancellation tutorials are most popular so we prioritize updates
- Prevent spam and abuse on our contact form
- Occasionally email you back if you asked a question (shocking, we know)
Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Essential cookies — Make the site work (remembering your dark mode preference, etc.)
- Analytics cookies — Anonymous usage data to improve content
- No advertising cookies — We don’t run targeted ads, so we don’t need creepy tracking
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work fine.
Third Parties
We use a few services to keep things running:
- Cloudflare — Security and speed (they see your IP address)
- Plausible Analytics — Privacy-focused traffic stats (no personal data)
- Email provider — If you message us (they handle delivery, we handle content)
None of these companies get to use your data for their own purposes. We don’t sell lists. We don’t “share with partners.” Gross.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you might have rights to:
- See what data we have about you (not much, but you’re welcome to it)
- Ask us to delete it
- Opt out of any communications
- Complain to a regulator (please don’t, but you can)

Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS everywhere). Our database is minimal by design—there’s not much to steal. We don’t store financial info, social security numbers, or anything that would ruin your life if leaked.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and post a notice on the site. We won’t email you about it unless it’s actually important.
